My daughter came home from school one day and told me about a visiting artist who had painted with coffee as part of his creative process. I was intrigued and so that weekend, I made a big pot of coffee to both drink and paint with. My kids started the morning with me at the kitchen table, testing the liquid coffee on the watercolor paper and making a few doodles. Hours later, I was still sitting at the kitchen table painting with coffee, fascinated by the new creative process I was discovering.
My African childhood influences much of my CoffeeART and I feel like the rich brown tone of coffee lends itself beautifully to the African savannah and the animals that inhabit it. Dogs are also fun subjects for me to paint and I sometimes use black pen to add more depth to their eyes and sweet faces. I have also created several cultural icon pieces such as the Tulsa Golden Driller, the Seattle Space Needle, the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Tulsa, and the original Starbucks store in Seattle. I am available for commission CoffeeART, so don’t hesitate to fill out a contact form at the bottom of this page if you’re interested in me painting something special and unique for you.
