ARTZY DOODLE BACKSTORY
One day I sat down to draw Albert Einstein and found myself with a pen in hand instead of my usual graphite pencil. As I looked at his kind eyes and crazy hair and eyebrows, I decided to try something different. I used the pen to create his portrait using small concentric circles. The end result was fun and whimsical, and I have since “artzy-doodled” Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, Will Rogers, and Gene Wilder.
LYRICAL PORTRAIT BACKSTORY
After I saw the play “Hamilton” in New York City, I became obsessed with the music and the clever lyrics of all the songs. I decided to create a portrait of Lin-Manuel Miranda (playwright and composer of Hamilton), and wanted to take an equally creative approach by creating the portrait entirely out of the titles of the songs from the play. I also recently created a Lyrical Portrait of legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen.
