A Photograph Beckons

A rush of excitement fills my brain as I imagine drawing this beautiful photo.

I like to scroll through my Facebook feed in the morning and check in on my community of friends and family. It makes me happy to see family updates from cousins, aunts, uncles and siblings who live across the country but can share a little bit from their daily lives. I get to enjoy big events like births, accomplishments and travels in real time as opposed to waiting to hear the news in a Christmas letter. Facebook has also allowed me to reconnect with so many friends I made at various international schools I attended throughout my childhood as well as reconnecting with college roommates and classmates. Like I said, it makes me happy.

Scrolling through my feed on this particular morning proffers various recipes I must try, cute dog videos, various political rants, a livestream of a giraffe that is going to give birth soon, silly meme’s and a stunning black and white photo that gives me pause. It’s so beautiful and quiet. Two innocent faces fill my computer screen and it happens. A rush of excitement fills my brain as I imagine drawing this beautiful photo. Can I capture her deep and soulful look? And what about his light wispy blond hair and faraway gaze? This photo has beckoned me to draw, and I gladly accept its offer.
